As food production has become more mass produced and land has become depleted due to bad farming practices,
much of the nutrition that naturally was part of our and our animals' diet has decreased or become less viable and useful. A simple example of this is Iron. Around 20 years ago, to get the correct daily allowance of iron, a human adult would need to eat one portion of cooked cabbage. Currently, to get the same amount of Iron, a human adult would need to eat the equivalent of two whole cabbages. Shocking isn't it?
Much of the meat we feed ourselves and our animals is also deficient in many vitamins and minerals as the source animals are feeding on depleted grains and vegetation and so are not ingesting the correct amount of vitamins and minerals themselves – and of course, we won't go into less than ideal husbandry and farming methods that are sometimes used, which increase the deficiencies even further.
Add to that the processing of animal feed, which also reduces the vitamin and mineral content as it is refined and cooked; chemicals, preservatives, sugars and hydrogenated oils added, and the enzymes, fatty acids, amino acids etc, destroyed.
Some of the vitamins and minerals are
also more effective when used in conjunction with others. For example, if your animal has joint issues, the following can be used:
- Chondroitin to reduce inflammation and enhance the quality of new bone and cartilage
- Glucosamine to enhance and maintain the synovial fluid that surrounds joints
- MSM for reducing pain and inflammation
While reasonably effective individually, the World Health Organisation, based on accepted and published studies, has suggested that these three ingredients may be much more effective when used in the correct combination as they are in the Promix Joint Q Supplement.
In our view, animal supplementation is just as important, if not more so, than supplementing ourselves.

We at least, have a choice of what we eat and can vary our diets according to our own needs. Our animals do not always have that luxury and are often fed the same food on a regular basis if not every day.
Pet owners reading this may be saying, "Yeah, this sounds expensive!". And the answer is yes it can be, for example, feeding 'raw food' can be a costly exercise and may not be within the reach of some pet owners.
