Myth: Fermented foods will restore gut bacteria
Each specie of bacteria has it's own specific amount and type of beneficial bacteria requirements. Animals and humans are also, obviously, not built the same, so home-made fermented foods will vary hugely depending on food source, temperatures, and liquid source. The final product will therefore, logically, never be consistent, nor have any guaranteed beneficial cultures, if any at all.
Any 'shop bought' fermented foods, by law are required to have preservatives in them. This hugely diminishes or destroys any beneficial bacteria that it may or may not contain initially.
Most sold probiotics use genetically engineered beneficial bacteria, whilst not harmful they are limited and expensive to produce and are therefore unlikely to have all the strains of bacteria required.
